JUST replaced my original comp w/ SE comp at 30K... Also had to do a lot of other 'primary mechanics' work... Why???!!! Apparently there are at least 2-3 'issues' with 'primary mechanics' and any ONE/combo could cause/contribute to the failures... YOU are lucky not to have needed more 'primary mechanics' work... If I remember correctly your bike has had some mods to significantly increase HP/TQ that may also have something to do with this... Curious if your bike was dyno'd (how many times)... I don't know 'why' exactly but I am suspicious of weaknesses in the 'primary mechanics' (design/engineering/materials/construction) and their (in)ability to handle the increased HP/TQ of the 96/103/110+...
When the 107 engine was built the bike still had the stock compensator.
I replaced it with the SE about 1 year later cause its suppose to be BETTER.
What exactly is the "primary mechanics"
I changed out my OE compensator at 5,900 miles to the SE compensator when I did the FM107 kit. 10,000 miles later everything still sounds good in there. BTW - I do run Formula + in the primary.
Does anybody have the STOCK compensator part number ??
I may go back to that one, it never rattled like this before !!
I called local dealer gave me 40274-08a that's the SE one
On my '08 The dealer put a stock one on during warranty at 30,000 miles I asked for a screaming Eagle but they said I would have to pay extra. I declined as I had the extended warranty. Like clockwork that one went out at 55,000 By then the MOCO had got smart and replaced it with a S.E. Traded at 97,000 with Zero problems. I used the Harley Primary-tranny oil.
I have an 08 streetglide with 28k took mine in last week xtended warranty almost up. I get a click from primary whenever I release the clutch or roll off throttle and back on they went through it said they do not hear it and nothing is wrong I feel your frustration had hds for 20 years this is the first time ever had this type of noise without anything wrong.

I would change the compensator out, whether you have to pay for it or not.My boss has an `08 Ultra, and the compensator came apart, actually damaging the inner and outer primary covers. He`s at the same mileage as you also.

Mine started knocking upon clutch engagement from a stop at 1500 miles. This was an '11 103" that already had the SE compensator. The dealer says it is normal and all bikes can be made to do it. I called BS and pulled out a C note I'd give him if any new bike on the floor did that. He would not bite. Anyway, the factory told me the same BS. Hard to believe. I'm waiting on the aftermarket compensator from Dark Horse Crankworks before I give the MoCo a penny for that piece of crap compensator that so many are complaining about.
I have 70k on my SE comp and it is really worn out. Worn about 3/16 into the bars. I too am waiting on Darkhorse's comp. Two more months before it is released though.

Do you have something definitive on that? About a week or so ago I got a mass email from John saying they were still working out some quality issues, but he did not put a date on it.
