Thank you all for your replies and insight. I'm seriously thinking about going to a heavier oil in my shocks. Jerry I'd love to meet up and swap bikes to see the difference. I'm a shift worker so my hours are crazy but ill pm you my number. Thanks again.

Gotta agree.

That said, I don't like my stock shocks. I will be getting the JRIs this year.

On my 06 Road King the shocks bottom out all the time and is a rough ride. I have been told to change out the oil to a heavier oil. Is it hard to take off the shocks and how about the oil?

Easy job if you've a little cheapie vacuum pump like a mightyvac(~$25). Two bolts hold the shocks on. Push the thingie to disconnect the air line, and then unbolt the brass fitting from the shock.

Flip the shock upside down, suck the oil out with the vacuum pump.

Flip the shock right side up, build a vacuum, then release, sucking the new oil right up into the shock.

Remount and reconnect the air lines.

It's that simple.

I just bought some Terry Cable 2nd generation performance shocks at the 2013 Hollister biker rally to replace the stock air shocks on my 2004 Ultra Classic. So glad I did. These shocks seriously add performance and stability to my ride from highway cruising through rough and twisty sections of the local mountain roads. Check them out as they give a 90-day money back guarantee. Any other vendor that confident? I don't think so. Progressive's are made in China...they won't go on my bike...ever! I want parts that I can count on for years! Chinese parts last for days. You know I'm speaking the truth...just saying. Terry Cable is a SoCal company owned by Terry Davis. He's been in the MC parts business for decades. Only successful companies can say that. He's also a damn good rider! Knows what he's talking about. The pro's ask him how to do things! Just saying....

Same here I changed the oil to 10wt and am much happier with the ride. Now I run less air pressure. Changed the fork oil to 15wt too.

What WT oil comes in the forks? Had someone tell me to use 30wt motor oil.
Not sure what I want to put in them but seems pretty easy to try multiple things.
