If you buy a SERT with the intention of building a map for your custom build does it matter if you have the latest software version?
If not then a older version with cables would do just fine correct?
PS, Im new here and enjoy reading all the info on this subject, Thanks.

you can use the SERT to build a custom map. probably use one of the canned ones as a start point, then adjust from there.

Welcome to the HDForums.

The later software versions will come with some new maps for later model bikes. I'm not sure about all the features on the new SERT.

i,m about to have a race tuner installed on my 05 ultra , and from what i,ve been reading it sounds like they all have there advantages ,but i did find out that a thundermax installed could effect your warrenty in which i have full service warrenty for 3 more years . the reason i,m having it done cause i,m having alot of pinging problems mostly when there is 2 of us riding on it. was told it should take of the problem price 650.00 installed. sometimes hesitates from a take off almost dies.

This is a long read but has alot of info on the SERT tuner. It was posted before the 07s and the 96 ci motors came out. The info is good because it walks you through the entire process of tuning your bike with the SERT. https://www.hdforums.com/m_222256/tm.htm

I'm using the pcIII. Many, like myself are experiencing an off idle intermittent stumble. I just spent 271$ at a dynojet recommended dyno facility and still have the problem. Many are not having this problem. As soon as I get home from Myrtle Beach the pc is coming off and getting sent back to Dynojet.

OK I got to ask the question. I have an 05 Road King Custom. I bought it from the dealer with Rinehart pipes, and stage 1. Does that mean there was a SERT used and I do not have it? OR do the HD dealers have 'universal' kits they can use if someone wants to just have the work done in their shop? Please tell me bc if there is a SERT that goes with my bile I want ot!
Thanks.
Mike
I just took delivery of my 07 and they handed me the SERT they used on it and told me to hang on to it. They engraved the plastic case with my last name and the last 6 of my VIN. I just put it in the cabinet with all the other take offs.

Good post. Thanks for the info. I have the SE slip ons, A/C, and ECM download. All done at the dealer. Would I see any more power (particularly low end torque) by upgrading to a SERT? I've learned that I won't see any more power by upgrading to a PC (per Eastern Performance and other members here).

Thanks,

Dave.

"There are several different types of fuel management system available. All I believe piggy back the ECM except for the SERT. "

Not to beat a dead horse, but I believe that the Thundermax, the DDT, and the SERT don't piggyback. The PCIII usb and V&H Fuel pack do.
