I'm guessing that dealers have to clear out the '13's pretty soon, so I made a casual inquiry on a 2-tone RK with ABS, security and cruise. Quoted $19,990 out the door (7% sales tax here).
Working backwards, it's $18,680 before tax. I figured MSRP as $20,374...So they're asking about $1,700 under MSRP. Some dealers have said they'll do $2,000 or more under MSRP, but the dealer fees add up.
This was a straight $18,680 plus tax ($19,990).
I'm in no rush, but if I can swing a deal on a leftover, I'll take it.
Around my area, seems like a solid, middle-of-the-road price. I paid less than that, but I don't have ABS and security.
What color you lookin' at?
Candy Orange/Beer Bottle. ABS and Security MSRP is $1,195.
Been over 8 years since I bought a new bike, so I'm just trying to get a feel for what's out there.
I went straight to a sales manager and just asked him for a bottom line out-the-door price. I don't have the time or patience to address dealer prep, set-up, doc fees, and any other nonsense. If they want to plug a number into the "Dealer Prep" box, that's fine. All I care about is the bottom line. Simply put, it's about to be a 13' leftover (in a month or so) and it's a "true" $1,700 under MSRP. In my opinion, if you include $700 in "Dealer Fees" on top of that, you're really only $1,000 under MSRP. Just curious if anybody is getting a true $2,000 to $2,500 under MSRP in the Southeast. If so, I'll keep looking.
Seems like a fair price. You can beat yourself up for days over a couple of hundred bucks, but why? I wouldn't wait much longer though or it will be gone.
A lot of dealers, including my local dealer are loaded with inventory right now. I can't remember them having this many new bikes on the floor this late in the year.
With the 2014's out very soon you should be able to muscle them around a little bit and get a little better deal.
When I bought my Road King in 2010 I held out until the 2011's hit the floor and got a much better deal than I was offered a few weeks before.
The only problem with waiting is the bike you really want may be gone.
The local Harley is offering $1000 cash back (They will make the first three payments But you have TO FINANCE FOR 84 MONTHS). As if. LOL
I don't finance, so there really is no incentive to take older inventory off their floor. They still have 2012 s around here. They are not offering anything else yet. But I am looking at used bikes but my sales guy told me today about that deal.
The good thing about waiting is everything being looked at is depreciating faster than the bike I'm riding.
