You may have to break out the dremmel and slot the holes in the base.
When I took off the stock seat and put the Sundowner on it, it pressed too hard into the rear part of the seat. In time, it would have not been good. It was either that, or slot the rear hold down hole in the seat, I felt better about tooling the mount.

I installed a adjustable backrest on my 99 Ultra with a tall boy and it works fine.
Granted it wont go all the way forward without pushing on the seat but I never have it in that spot anyway. Is it hitting the seat material or the pan?
