I have a 2012 Ultra Limited with a few upgrades (see sig)
Was out cruising last night and while sitting at a stop light I noticed for the first time a high-pitched squeal. Each time I came to a stop after that I noticed it as well. It sounds a little bit like the sound of the fuel pump when you first turn on the ignition, but it is constant. Seems to be coming from the top of the engine/fuel tank area. Could this be the fuel pump? Anyone else notice this noise above the sewing machine sounds?
I had my throttle actuator go out, it sounded like the fuel pump when I started the bike. It caused the bike to go into limp mode which is very dangerous..you basically lose throttle! Not good if you are needing to get out of the way.
Don't mess around, take it to the dealer and have them listen to it....
the thread is a little old, but...Morleyz, did you ever find out what the noise was? I'm hearing what sounds like the same sound in my 2010 Ultra...
It could be that the convoluted fuel lines inside your fuel tank has a pin hole in them causing the fuel pump to loose pressure.
A good test might be to fill your tank and see if the problem persists because if it is a hole in the fuel line it wont do it when the hole is underwater (so to speak).
