This is why I love HD FORUMS..I've searched through the threads looking for answers to no avail. I know that once I post this I will have an answer in a minute! Thank You in ADVANCE!!!!
Okay, I have a 2008 Street Glide with Abs brakes..I have air in my front brake and i'm assuming because the front hand brake won't work.. I got it to work and just kept squeezing on and off.. Of course during the course of my ride the damn front brake grip AGAIN didn't work.. Anyway, I get to where I'm going and get in a conversation with a guy about my issue...
I assumed Abs was in front AND back brakes.. Today this guys tells me that NO it doesn't have front Abs...Just in the rear. He goes on to tell me how easy it is to bleed the front brakes and wants to do it for me then and there.. I said whao! NO, no thanks.. He says why would you spend that money at harley when I can do it for you FREE right now!!
Long story short, I didn't have him do it and decided to educate myself on the ABS.. Um Um that's why i'm here.. I can't find my manual that's the first place I wanted to check.. You all here, are the second.. PLEASE school me willya! LOL
+1. If your bike came with ABS, it is front and back. Why in the world would they make a bike with only 1 ABS brake? Whoever that guy was, dont let him anywhere near your bike for his shadetree mechanics, lol. You can get the air out or your ABS brakes but if it starts messing up and you get the ABS light on for other issues, it should go to the dealer to be put on the machine for proper diagnosis/repair in order for your ABS to continue to work correctly. When there is a failure in the system it will still function like regular brakes, you just will not have the ABS part of the deal. If I am wrong about any part of this someone will follow me with the correct answer and chunk a wrench or something at me. That is my educated redneck answer, and I am sticking to it.
