Default Reduced reach bars

I have an 02 Ultra, I am 5' 10". One of the first things I did was put some 10" Yaffe bars on because I felt like I was leaning down into the bars. While the height on these is good, I think they are a little too wide.

I saw something about reduced reach bars which are a bit narrower and provide some pull back. Anyone have these on an Ultra? Will they even work?

I went with longer brake cables on for the 10" bars so will they work here as well?

Thanks in advance.

Look up Reduce Reach Touring Bars on the HD website and check fitment. When you put on your 10" bars did you only change your brake cable or did you also change your Clutch cable. Or, did you reroute your stock clutch cable. If the reduced reach bars fit your model year then you probably will not have to change the brake cable or clutch cable. Remember that these reduced reach bars are made for short people. At 5'10" I don't think of you as being short. You may find that while these bars are not as wide as stock bars they bring the control back 2" towards you. You might find that a bit cramp.

I have the reduced reach bars on my '09 Ultra and love them. I was having to reach a bit forward on the stock bars which caused back/sholder pain and these cured the issues. I had to replace the stock clutch cable with a longer one, the brake cable was fine. Your bike may be different as mine is the new frame.

I just put the Harley reduced reach bars on my Ultra. The couple of inches make a big difference and they are the same width as the stock bars. I put a +2 inch clutch cable on mine but if you read other post the stock will work just fine. I put a set on my friend bike yesterday and used the stock cable. It worked fine after relocating. I wish I had used my stock. Would have been a lot easier.

I had the reduced reach bars on my SG. I just changed them out for 10" LA Choppers Apes. I actually really like how comfortable the reach bars were for me. I am on 5'5" though so not as tall as you are.

I did not change anything out with the reach bars. all the wires worked fine and had plenty of room. The brake like was good and I had plenty to spare. The clutch cable needed to get rerouted a bit inside the fairing and I had to rework some of the zip ties that held it on the frame.

Thanks for the input guys - reach bars may indeed be the way to go. What about the height? The PYO bars I have now are 2" taller than stock, which I like.

Heli bars are a little pricey but lots of adjustment .Just put them on my 10 ultra really helped with shoulder pain.

+1 Heli Bars

Have had them for three years and they are fantastic! Visited them in Maine and had them install them. Solid, well made in the USA. The owner and workers take tremendous pride in the product and even gave us a tour of the facility. Top notch! I had shoulder surgery and had to drop the right side just a bit this year. No problem, fully adjustable. Finish is still great after three years.

I would buy from them again in a heartbeat. It was the best comfort investment I made on my bike!
