What's my windshield problem?
I'm built bout like you and I run a 9" freedom shields flip up shield and I have no buffeting but I don't wear a helmet, hardly ever ever get hit by bugs if I do they skim across the top of my head.
May not be a solution for you, but I just added the chrome air baffle (about
$ 26) that mounts between the forks just above the front fender.
It definitely reduces the updraft that comes up over the fuel tank.
H-D used to put these baffle (in black) on most of their touring bikes but stopped several years ago.
I thought that it may have had something to do about engine cooling so I watched my oil temperature and I can see no difference there.
If nothing else, it's another piece of chrome!

I have these on my 07 Street Glide with lowers and they work great. The real nice thing is these are the only ones that do not hit the lowers when locking your steering all the way to the right or left. All the "other" deflectors have a warning that they will hit the lowers. I have the same helmet as you and I have no problems with the visor on the helmet causing buffeting. I have a National Cycles 6.5" VStream windshield.

Wanted to throw this out there . Might help ya on some future buys of windscreens cheaper. As well a forum sponsor.

I have the LRS 8" and I still get some buffeting but mostly allot of wind noise. The big "look through" windshield that came on the bike was buffeting free, maybe go back to that and live with looking through it or go shorter and try to get up out of the turbulence coming off the top of the windshield.Allot of shops have demo windshields you can try maybe try a few different ones. Also a full face or a 3/4 is much more aerodynamic than a 1/2 helmet.
Hello gnewman....my 8" LRS recurve works great for me and I feel like I'm looking way over the top. No problems at any speed and I also have the baffle that fits under the triple tree and those black JES air deflectors. My point here is I'm 4" shorter than you so I'm thinking maybe an LRS 12 would be the way to go plus those JES deflectors. Regardless, I think you'll learn a lot from another poster's suggestion to hold your left arm parallel to the road and see how much of your turbulence is coming from underneath.
I had an 09 ultra, 5'10', only thing that worked for me was the Jescustomaccents wind deflectors on the front forks, and Freedom Shields windshield, 9 inch fit me just fine deflects the wind with no buffeting to my helmet. You would probably need the taller windshield for your height.
I have to agree with the comments on buffeting coming from below. My Classic does not have lower, and I run the HD Chrome Fork deflectors & the air baffle, and freedom wings ( http://www.freedom-wings.com/ ). I can run a stock street glide 4" shield with no buffeting.
