I'm roughly the same height as the OP. I have the ashtray under the forks, and I run a 10" Windvest. It works great, but at some point I'd like to try an 8" recurve shield, just to see what it's like.

As recommended by another forum member. I bought some blue painters tape and placed some strips on the face of the deflector that mounts against your chrome light bar brackets. This places the tape between the two surfaces and keeps your chrome from getting scratched when you mount the deflectors. I guess there are other types of tape that would work. I just bought the painters tape because it was recommended and it comes off easy. Anything that would puts a protective barrier between the two surfaces should work.

I usually do the same thing but use black electrical tape. It comes off easy and is rubbery.

Deckman, another low-cost and very simple option you might want to consider is putting soft lowers on your crash bars. I've had Desert Dawgs on four different bikes over the years and in every case, they helped cut down on wind and updrafts. http://www.leadermotorcycle.com/harl...n-rain-guards/

I already have the Harley hard lowers and right now I am very happy with my setup.
