Default Windvest

Anyone here have a Windvest on their batwing?

I had a Windvest on my Softail Custom and loved it. I'm 5'6" and I'm usin' a 6" windshield on my Dragonfly fairing (same shape as any other batwing fairing), and it seems to be about the right height. I get a little bit of buffeting, dependin' on the helmet I'm wearin'. I can see over it fine, which I prefer over lookin' through the windshield. I'm tryin' to decide if I should go with the 4" Windvest or the 6". I'm not sure if the 6" Windvest would actually be a little taller, or at least seem taller, since it has a slightly different shape. And I'm not sure if the 4" would give me the wind protection to keep my helmet from buffeting in the wind.

Can anyone offer any help? If you have one, how do you like it?

I demo'd the 6.5" Klock Works on my bike, and I couldn't really tell any difference between that one and what I already have.

I've heard good things about the Clearview. Does it have as much of a curve as the Windvest? I'm assumin' more of a curve would offer more wind protection.

Love my 10" Windvest on the Ultra. Had 12" stock and a Clearview. Clearview was like a stock shield, did not move the air. The Windvest really moves the air up and over. The stock shield, I was looking through it, now I'm about two inches above it and still no wind buffeting. It had a lot more recurve than the Clearview.

Tima, just curious....how tall are you? I'm 5'11 and most of my height is in my upper body. I'm usually looking directly at the top of my stock shield and I'm thinking the 10" windvest would be great but they suggest the 10" shield for someone who is 6'3.

I'm 6'. I'm looking two to three inches over the shield, when I'm tired and slumped back into the recliner, er, back rest, I'm still about an inch over it. Hold my hand up above my helmet at speed and the wind is still about two inches above my head, the wife doesn't get much wind when she's on. I think I'd stick with the 10".

I called wind vest and they told me that the top of the wind screen should be at the level of your lips and go from there. Your height has noting to do with it as some have long legs and a shorter torso and vise versa…

Even a longer neck can throw the wind screen requirements off… I ordered a 10 inch clear which is not in yet, I hope it’s the answer!
