from the top of the fairing to the top of the stock hd shield its 12"...
what height shield would compare to the stock for wind protection/deflection to say a klockwerks? i like the profile of the klockwerks but need to figure out what size i should go for. the stock one gives very little buffeting at 85mph but would like a lower shield with the same coverage.
im 6'3" and if i sit straight up im looking over the top, if i relax my seating posture im looking just under the top. that transition is kinda annoying...
I got the 10" FastAire light smoked, and it works great, no buffeting and I don't have to stretch to see over it like with the stock. Of course, I'm only 5' 101/2" so you might need to go a little taller. Besides, with their prices you can try two or three for the price of one of the others. It came with no flaws at all.
I really disliked the stock height windshield on my Roadglide. The top hit just where I wanted to look. I was going to order a new windshield, but wanted to see what height would be best. I took the WS off and make a posterboard template and taped it to the WS and cut about an inch and a quarter off of the stocker. I filed the edge smooth and sanded the edging so it looks like stock. That was about 4000 miles back and now I don't even think about the WS ever. It is exactly where I want it and I don't see any difference in wind protection at all. I think I am a few dollars ahead. I just used a jigsaw and a good blade. I put masking tape all over the thing so I wouldn't scratch it. From beginning to end it took about 45 minutes. Best mod I did all summer. Ken
I am 6'2" and looked thru the 12" stock windshield. I have the 9.5 Clearview recurve, smoked windshield. I receive no buffetting, but I should have gotten the 10". I have received a few incoming bug zaps.....Ouch
