We are the same height and looks like we ride the same bike. I had the same problem with the 12". Took it to a glass shop and had them cut it to 10". I think it is about perfect. I wish I had cut it to 101/2" first because I still have a little buffeting at 85+ when wearing a half helmet. That said, with a re-curve you could probably go to 9". My thought is, the stock shield sucked and had to go, so you might as well cut it and try to find the right height.
