If you're are around 6 ft tall and ride a bagger with a 7"-8" windshield, I'm needing your input.
I'm 6 ft tall and have tried the stock 12", a 10" Windsplitter and a 10" & 11" recurve shield. I'm not really happy with any of them and am wondering if dropping down to around an 8" shield would be better.
Is more direct wind in your face/helmet area better than a taller shield that still gives you buffeting and doesn't allow you to look over the windshield?
I'm just under 6'-2" with a 34" inseam and use a 8 inch recurve from Fastaire. I wish I had ordered a 9 inch instead.
Depending on the Height of your torso an 8 inch might just work for you.
I have cut my Limited's stock shield twice - first to 9 inches then to 8. It's not hard to do using a jigsaw, don't even have to take the shield off the bike. There are videos you can check out. I Don't know why more riders don't try this if they're not going to use the stock shield anyway.
I put a 9" LRS shies on my Street Glide and it is a bit too tall for my liking. I would rather have a 7" or so. I am 6'. It's ok on the highway, but especially when doing hills, I have to look through it too often and I'm not a fan.
I'm right at 6' tall and use a stock seat on my Street Glide and a 7" LRS shield. I look over it even late in the day and wouldnt go any higher or lower.
Really tough to judge shield size based on height alone. Too many other variables. You have a taller shield. I'm assuming you are looking through it? If so, here is a trick. Sit on your bike in your normal, relaxed position and mark your shield right in your line of site when looking straight ahead. Then, measure from the center screw to the mark, and subtract 2 inches. That is the size shield you need. You want to be looking over the shield by about 2 inches.
For example, if you had a 10" shield on there and when you ride, you are looking right at that top edge. You're not really looking over it or through it. You want an 8" shield.
Hope this helps. Feel free to call or message with any questions.
I'm 6ft and use a 8" windshield. I tried a 6" but the wind was too much. With the 8 I can easily see over the top and get the feel of the wind without having my head bounced around.
