I have the 10" Fastaire in medium tint and love it. I'm 6'2" and it fits me perfect. The stock 12" was just like you said, right in the way. I had to sit up to see over, or crouch down to see through. I hated it.
Not to hijack the thread, but do you guys with 10 and 12inch tinted shields have issues with reflections from the tank and fuel cover? I put a 12 in tinted from Baggers only ( ebay product , but nice I must say and great price ) and its a pretty pronounced reflection in front of me all day. May need to go with a curved shorter one. I like looking thru vs over, but can't stand the distraction. Thoughts? Thanks
I put the Long Ride 9" Light Gray tint on.
This shield acts exactly like the 12" stock. ie Wind deflection.
I'm 5'9" and use this one for touring. Like to see over.
Liked this so much I got a 6" for local riding. Little more buffeting but can see a lot more.
Great price and quality.
You wouldn't be disappointed.
from the top of the fairing to the top of the stock hd shield its 12"...
what height shield would compare to the stock for wind protection/deflection to say a klockwerks? i like the profile of the klockwerks but need to figure out what size i should go for. the stock one gives very little buffeting at 85mph but would like a lower shield with the same coverage.
im 6'3" and if i sit straight up im looking over the top, if i relax my seating posture im looking just under the top. that transition is kinda annoying...
I think u can bring the shield to a glassier and they could cut it down an inch. It's alot cheeper than a new shield.
My question. I have the stock windshield on my 09 egs. I believe its 12 inches. would a 12 inch recurve help alot, or go to a 14in recurve. Im 6'4. i do get buffeting with the stock. I feel that the longer the shield the dorky its going to look. Im looking at the blems. great prices.
I run the klockwerks (4" i believe), and i'll never ride anything else. Neither will my father. He actually bought a new bike this weekend and told them he wanted the klockwerks off of his old one transfered or cancel the deal lol. By the way im 6'3 and he is 6'1. On a side note it looks awesome, works great and looks even better, what else you want. I can ride up to about 60-65 with a hat on confortably. no buffeting.
i used the 10" harley shield on my streetglide for almost two years, then i discovered the longride shields, a site sponsor. the 10" i can still see over by about 2" and is perfect. i got the medium gray tint, and can still see through it if i need to duck down behind it for rain etc. i'm 6'4" tall. and both the harley 10" shield and the longride 10" work great, but i gotta say that the longride does look mighty cool, sharp, sleek, etc, on my black streetglide. anything is better than the short stock streetglide shield. they suck.
