I'm wondering if anyone can make some suggestions on what I might try to eliminate the buffeting I'm experiencing with my full face helmet. I'm currently running a 16" shield on my deluxe with lower wind deflector fangs installed. I've got a nice clean pocket of air when riding with my half helmet, but when wearing my full face, I get just enough buffeting to be annoying at highway speeds. I was hoping to run this setup for longer road trips, but it is not something I would even considering with the buffeting I'm experiencing. What else have you tried that worked for you?
Some full face helmets are designed for sport bikes. They work really well when sitting forward, but catch air underneath when sitting upright on a cruiser. Also may be air coming up from below due to windshield.
Well removing the shield (not a fairing) seems like an obvious solution. Not sure buffeting is even an issue when you're not running a windshield. Unfortunately ditching the shield isn't the solution I'm looking for. Running the windshield eliminates the massive wind pressure you have to fight when driving without one on the highway at speed. If were to do a multi day trip I would absolutely want the shield on there.
The thought of the wind coming up from underneath had occurred to me as well. I have tried using my arm to block the wind coming up from underneath but it has no effect. I think the fangs are already doing an excellent job of blocking this wind. It is proving to be pretty difficult to pinpoint exactly where the buffeting wind is coming from. I'm wearing an Arai Signet Q helmet, which if I'm not mistaken is actually marketed as being designed for an upright riding position.
Not trying to be a smart *** here, but have you tried different riding positions to see if you can feel where the air is coming from? IE: tilting your helmet fore and aft or slouching down more or sitting more upright? Can you tilt your windshield any? See if it changes.
Just throwing some things out there if you haven't tried. Good luck!
You do not show a photo of your setup, so all we can do is guess. I have a guess, but it is useless to you as it is just one of a dozen potential cures.

Great ideas. I have not done much to try to reposition my body to see if that helps. I have tried the "arm across the chest" trick that people often try before buying lowers, and that does not provide any relief. My windshield isn't designed to be adjustable but I could probably put some spacers in there to adjust the angle a little bit. Perhaps standing it upright a little more would help.

To be honest it doesn't seem necessary to me. It looks like every other softail out there running a windshield and fangs. I would be curious to hear your suggestions though. If you can think of a dozen different ways to cure my issue then I'm all ears.
Along with the fangs I put the Kury under the forks air baffle thingy on my Limited... made a noticeable difference. Not earth shattering, but there. Almost hidden when installed too.
