DTC U1040 indicates that the ABS module is not capable
of sending its state of health message. ( and this makes the ABS Light not flash ) check connections on the Module ...all fuses ...

I have the 09 electrical manual for the touring line and its not in there. It mentions several U codes but all appear to be serial data codes. I found this on another forum.
"U1040 indicates no serial data communication with ABS module."

thank you gentleman

i think we may be getting somewhere now
i did check fuse and all the wires i could reach
nothing obvious .so i will get behind the lower fairing and see what
that looks like i did read where they zip tie the wires tight
and a hard brake or sharp turn may stress these wires where they
are connected to the steering neck.many thanks to all
will let you know what happens
