I recently installed Wild 1 509, 16 inch apes. I have run many brands and styles of apes over the years and I recommend against these. Yes, they are a super high quality bar, with outstanding chrome work, but they are not comfortable, have a lousy wrist angle,
I can't speak to Wild 1, but this was my main concern when choosing bars. The pullback and how my wrists would sit. I wanted a small pullback and chose the Yaffe OEM Monkey Bars with the 6" pullback. There may be others that are similar or even less pullback but these are the ones I stumbled on and ended up buying.
I'm in the middle of installing Khromewerks 14 fat apes. After a few rides i will determine if I want to put them on top of a pair of FLD risers , I had those crappy heritage style bars.... They were killing my wrists .
Yes, if you're going with higher bars you should change the bushing from stock. Not sure what your asking about "poly" but the bushing you need are polyurethane. Pretty much anyplace you buy the bars you can get the bushings. Got mine from Carlini with my bars. I think I paid about $30 but can't remember. This is what they look like. Very simple to install if you're doing your own bars.
WO 14's here. The wrist angle(pullback) is OK if the bars are wide enough. If they're narrow too much pull back puts you in a bind. Burly's are wider at the bottom, which I think looks better.
Poly bushings from HD are a wise move also. No vibration issues and much better for moviing the bike around.
Also be sure and use a 1 pc handlebar clamp if you dont already have one. The added leverage will fatigue the bars where the hole is in the center for the wiring. Wont happen in a week or a month but it will happen. And when they break it's like having 2 oars on a rowboat. Been there. Previous owner didnt put one on and mine snapped 200 mi from homge. Luckily it happend while backing into a parking spot. Could've been really bad 2 miles back up the road.
what u mean by:
Poly bushings from HD are a wise move also. do u think its wise of money & its better to buy different brand
am thinking to buy the BR Custom New Wave 2 1.5" there where it go back to 1" in the center & grip area. do u mean this bars week & it may broke ( 1 pc handlebar clamp ) cause i wont change the original clamp

The bushings I used were the polyurethane bushings from Harley. They are a direct replacement for the stock rubber bushings and have much less flex giving the bars a more solid feel while still damping vibration.
You should be OK on your clamp since your bike is newer than 2007. Sorry for the confusion. The clamp I was rerering to is the clamp on top of the bars. Your bike may have a 1 piece clamp. The older bikes like my 2001 had 2 C style clamps, one on each side. This allowed the bars to flex in the middle at the hole where the wiring enters the bars. Eventually they will crack and break. Especially with the softer rubber bushings.
Anyone have recommendations for handlebar company...
i want to change my handlebar to the 14" Ape Handlebar. so what the best companies you think...
i heard that some cheap bar vibrate wail driving. & i don't want to pay some $$ & end out changing it....
Im getting my HH1 1 1/2 inch ape hangers next week. And am looking to sell my 14 inch black Paul Yaffe Monkey bars. They retail for $395 plus shipping. They are from throttle by wire. Great set of bars. I just wanted something thicker. Looking to get $250 for them shipped. They are 8 months old. No scratches.

Keep us posted, I'm going to do apes for the same reason. After riding about 200 miles my hands go numb. Looking to go 12" or 14".
TONS of different manufacturers. I personally went with FMB Choppers HellBent 14's, mainly because I wanted a "unique" looking bar. I have yet to ever see a picture or bike in person with these installed. Also, they can custom build to your specs if you want a specific pullback or width. Good luck in your venture and post some pics and reviews when install is complete.
