Been trying to search and have had little luck. Looking at a couple ultra limiteds in the area and was wondering if there is anything I need to be on the lookout for or concerned with? Riding a Dyna FXDC currently and this will be in addition to not instead of. Thought I wanted a street glide but with little to chose from the limited keeps catching my eye. Just new to touring bikes and I'm stuck at work on my iPhone.
Get it and dont look back. It is just like any other machine out there, you have to keep up with the maintenance regularly. The only issues I have heard of with the limited is the limp mode issue (all makes on the touring line with tbw) and rear brake switch recall, other than that it is a great bike, lovin mine...
Thanks - rode one last night - wife is in love. I liked it but felt cramped. Of course my Dyna has apes and forward controls. Handled better than I thought too. 80 mph was smooth...
I went from a Night Train with forward controls to my Limited, and I know what you mean about feeling cramped. But all it took was a set of highway pegs set just right and I now have three foot positions, feet on the boards, heels on the boards and toes on the pegs, or feet completely on the pegs. Nice for long rides to be able to move your feet around since it changes the pressure point on your seat, and allows you to stretch a bit. You might want slightly higher bars or a tallboy seat, but you can check out what other people have done and see what you think will work for you. Bottom line is that you really can't go wrong with a Limited, if you choose to take a few things off ( Like I did ), you can always put them back on, makes it like having two bikes in one. I think the biggest factor was the statement you made " Wife is in love ". You won't regret it, I sure didn't!!
Ditto on the feeling cramped. I came from a VStar to my Limited and the only thing I didn't like was the reduced room when riding 2 up. I move my tour-pak back 2 1/2 inches and life has been great!
Been riding an Eltra Glide Classic, Ultra Classic and now an Ultra Limited Classic for about eights years or so. Love'em all. All in all, I probably have about 90,000 miles between them all with only minor issues. If you're buying used, might as well find one with the Stage 1 A/C, upgraded fuel management system, and slip ons that are pretty good. That's where most people dump their cash ... which you probably already know. Like others have said, highway pegs open the bike up a lot!!
