Default First ride...troubles???

I went for my first ride on my new '13 Street Glide today after having mini apes installed (4 miles on bike). I did notice that when first taking it for a ride the clutch engagement was very close to the bar, meaning I only had to let it out a little before I would start moving forward.

I rode 25 miles and pulled into a parking lot and was admiring the view, bike in first and clutch pulled in. After a couple seconds a knocking sound started coming from the left side and the bike began to shake. I looked down and the whole thing was shaking, it then stalled on me. I gave it a look over and then restarted it and no knocking, but shifting into gears seems more difficult than it did. I rode it home without anymore abnormal sounds coming from it.

I know the bike is new and the clutch cable will stretch, is that whats going on here. I just need to adjust my clutch.

I would say you need to adjust your clutch cable.

Sounds like the clutch was heating up and grabbing. How much free play is at the clutch lever? It is only supposed to have 1/8" of free play. The cable is used to set the free play at the lever. If you have the proper free play then it needs to be adjusted at the clutch pack.

Yeah the clutch needs adjusted but I'm not entirely sure about the knock. Get it checked out that could be a warranty issue. You spend that much on a quality bike you want it to work and sound correct.

Almost sounds like the throw-out arm slipped.

That doesn't sound good. Also found out there isn't a wrench in the new harley all-in-one tool kit that fits the clutch adjustment nuts.
