I know this doesn't apply to every body because not everyone has them but for those of you looking to upgrade your stereos have you ever tried the headset and if not why not.I listen to my stock stereo through the headset every day and I think it sounds pretty good.Definitely way better than the stock speakers and with a Limited free.
I put the Booms in my FLHTK. They do sound better and are louder, probably why I think they sound better. I hear my music well and I ride 75 - 80 mph. They will still distort because it is the amplifier that distorts. I could still use more volume and the only way to get that now is to install an amp which I am considering. If I go with an amp it will be the J&M 500W. No point in continuing this incrementalism...
Well with J&M you get 500 watts or 125 watts per speaker haulin *** down the road... I figure I that I want to be able to hear and enjoy Iron Maiden on my Iron Maiden!
Does anyone know what company makes Boom speakers for Harley? Also are we talking about the new 2014 6.5"high performance speakers(#76000317)? Catalog states only fits 2014 touring models-anybody know why they would not fit an`11 Streetglide w/adapter ring??
Thanks.
JCPenny
the speakers will fit with an adapter ring. the reason they state '14 only is because of the grills that come in the kit. these won't work for you on a prior to '14 bike because the hole in the fairing is much larger.

So my main question is are there any warranty issues with going with something other than the booms? The head mechanic at my dealership was telling me that after market speakers would void the warranty on the radio. Sounds like a load of feces to me.
Biketronics BT7P1 7.1" speakers are the way to go for batwing fairing speakers. They come with the adapter rings, they're made by Hybrid Audio Technologies, and they flat out kick azz with a decent amp on them. You will NOT get the bass these speakers produce out of ANY other fairing speaker.
