the 2008 105th edition Ultra Classic back in Aug 2008, but held off a month and the 2009 came out and boy, was I so glad I waited and got the 09 Ultra Classic with all the significant changes. A year later, Harley added the Ultra Limited and I was like "should have waited" as the Limited had all the extra trimmings that I wanted...so I kept my 09.
Fast forward five years+, and I am again facing the same urge as I am quite impressed with the new changes, especially the Ultra Limited which I have been eyeing since 2010.
Decisions, decisions, my right side of the brain is saying get it, time is ripe, now is your chance to get the Ultra Limited that you want, plus all the new trimmings however, left side brain says, the 09 is paid for and has lots of customization stick to it
Im in the same boat, my 09 has been paid for long ago but i have it just like I want it and feel like it is just getting broken in and running better than ever with almost 66K on the odo. I could pull the trigger tomorrow on the 14 limited or I could just as easily ride this baby for another 65000!!!
In the next 6 months it is gonna be a buyers market on barley used late model Street Glides, Ultras and Limiteds. In fact if you wait about 3-4 months I bet you could get at least $2500 off MSRP on leftover 2013 models.
I can still remember all the $$'s I had to spend, to make my 2007, run like it should. I now know, if there's something wrong with these new bikes, they won't support it like they should. I'll let the rest of you, find what these hidden problems are, & wait for Harley to correct them.... Then I'll think about buying a new one.
I am impressed with what I see so far. The more I look at the new fairing, the more I'm starting to like it. I think these new bikes have a chance to be a lot better right out of the box, than anything Harley has done recently. Someone has obviously been listening!
Well im Very,Very happy with my 04 and yes its been paid for for a long time...
Every time i get on it i think what a fine machine i have and i know i will feel this way for a long time to come,,,,,Well that is,,,,As long as,,,,I stay off of anything newer :-)
Need to separate the "wants" vs. "needs." You don't need a new bike...you want one. Just keep the 09 and ride it until she blows...then you "need" a replacement.
