Default Farewell Ruby

Saying farewell to my beloved 2009 Street Glide "Ruby" This Wed. Its been a good run baby, Ill miss you:

Saying hello to "Sofia" or "Sofie" Or "Sofe" for short:

2014 Ultra Limited.

This is one of the dealer show bikes that the dealer big wigs rode from Denver to Salt Lake City after the reveal. HD of SLC is knocking $1,222 off the bike for the 815 miles on the clock, and another $200 for the small paint chip in the fender picked up along the way.

Although I have NEVER been a believer of extended warranties, because of all the new tech on this one, going with the 5 year extended + tire coverage.

Excited as hell. Will be taking her on a 700 mile trip to southern Utah over labor day weekend. Will post as much as I can when I get back about my opinions of the new design.

Sofie will eventually get chrome forks, and chrome "enforcer" wheels, (2014 SG wheels chromed) and due to the paint chip in the fender, will probably strip the fender clean and repaint to be a SG style, along with a SG rear fender extension (if that will work). Just hope to god my Klockwerks ergo back bars can make the move. (will post findings on that)

Will be selling off Ruby's tour pak in the classifieds, complete with rear speaker pods and the hog tunes amp that drives them. (no speakers though) Will also have a few bits of bling from Ruby for sale, whatever wont make the transition to the new bike.

I don't know guy. It's obvious a lot of love went into Ruby. That's one sweet scoot.
Been there done that tho, so enjoy and I hope Sophie gives back the same love that Ruby did.

Thanx for the kind words. And your right, a lot of thought and love went into Ruby. Cant tell you how many compliments Ive had on that bike. She's been mistaken for a CVO on countless occasions. (yes, I corrected them) A month back when I was going to move to a Road Glide, I backed out because the thought of someone else riding her literally made me sick to my stomach. It hurt more to let Ruby go, than I was excited about getting the new Road Glide.

But now, its time. It feels right.

Its not just a new bike, its also a fresh start. Never mentioned it on HDF, but I divorced my wife of 13 years this Feb. (she was/is an alcoholic for the last 6 years) Anyone whos lived through that knows the slow decent into hell it is. So I guess Sofie is a part of starting my NEW life over. Clean slate. I guess its therapy?

Finally got the tatoo Ive been wanting for years.

And the best part is, Sofie will be the SECOND new babe/love in my life. This little doll being the first:

So looking forward to new start and many happy times with TWO incredible women.

Sorry to get all mushy. Was having a moment I guess.

Since you're having a moment...

Too weird. So yeah I divorced my wife of 17 years in March for about the same reason but it took three years of pure hell and practically every thing I owned to finalize. In my case I was lucky to have inherited a "Ruby" (her old bike) which is an 09 SG same as yours, same color as yours, almost the same chrome as yours, that I'm now "recovering" on. I consider myself lucky.

Had to sell my prized RG to pay off the divorce which was really, really fun. Still haven't changed my avatar and all because it still hurts like a mother. Loved my RG.

But in the end it was worth it and I too have a new chicky-chick who interestingly enough looks very similar to your new lady.

Anyway, nice recovery man. Bike/Chick/Tattoo look sharp!

Flyingace, I've never met you but through this forum I feel like I know you and Ruby personally. My 09SG (Charlie) was my 1st HD. Through your posts I've worked on her and made her mine. Good luck with the new scoot she's a beauty. I will again be following your updates and progress with Sofia. Ride safe.

I agree with bald1der, I have never met you Flyingace, although we have talked through messaging on this site for years... We have the same love for the color red... my 08 wouldn't be what it is today without your help. Thanks! Not a huge fan of the 14's but that one is sweet looking, the tattoo is awesome! And congrats on the new girlfriend.

PM me when you get a price on that tour pack, Im interested.

Thanks and ride safe!
