Just upgraded to a smartphone and have tons of music downloaded. Next thing I need is a mount so I can plug in and enjoy the tunes while cruising down the road. Would like some suggestions on what seems to work well whether it be handlebar mounted or some other way on the fairing ? It's a Motorola M android
I got a handlebar mount from Ram Mounts, and it was great. I've had 2 of them. I now have a head unit where the Ipod goes right inside, so I don't use RAM anymore. Google it.
I've tried several and the X-Grip from RAM is by far the most functional of all. It isn't the best looking, especially when empty but I'm more function over fashion anyway.
I took 3 zip ties, 2 around the left bar but not tight. Slip the 3rd under both of those but don't tighten it up yet. You can now tighten up the first 2. I had an extra holster for my phone and slid the belt clip behind the 3rd zip tie and tightened that as I flattened it as well. Zip tie #1 & 2 slid inward about the same width as the belt clip. The only way the holster will come off is if I either break the zip ties or spread the 3rd zip tie with a flat blade screwdriver. Make sure the zip tie bracket is high enough on the bar so that if you have to make a full lock turn, the holster doesn't hit the tank.

+1 X-Grip allows different devices to be mounted using the same attachment.
The nice thing about these is they're adjustable for a lot of different phone sizes. And, if like me, you keep your phone in some sort of protective case, you can still make this work. It's not pretty, but it works very well.
