I don't get it. I read thread after thread how the 2014s have reduced the wind buffeting issue. I have to ask, what wind buffeting issue there?? I've been riding Harley's for years and through time I've learned to get the right windshield to match your height so that you are just looking over the windshield. I've never had a problem. Am I missing something?
Theory of relativity I suppose. If you match the windshield to your needs you reduce buffeting. If you install a fork baffle (like I did,) you reduce buffeting even more. If you ride a '14 with the vent, supposedly there is even less.
One man's "in the wind" is another man's "buffeting." If the bike tracks impressively in high crosswinds like my RG does, that's not buffeting IMO, that's just ridin'
Wind buffeted, with of all the issues that needed attention they fixed a non issue.
They should have made a push button raising and lower shield.
Issues that needed improvements like transmission, primary, and wheel bearing failures with only ten or twenty thousand miles on em, they should last for a couple hundred thousand miles. Issues like a drive belt that is impossible to change on the side of the road, should have been addressed.

I have to agree. I ride 20-60K a year and have for a long time. The only bike I have that has some wind buffeting is my FB when the windshield is off.
That goes for both Bat wing and my RGU's
Those who have never experienced it....yes, you are missing something. Count your blessings. There is a difference between wind and buffeting. I had it so bad on my Ultra, when stock, that I literally could not see because my trifocal glasses were bouncing so bad on my face. This would happen when riding into a slight crosswind.
Yes, installing a lower windshield helped, as did the fork baffle, but it wasn't until I replaced the fixed fairing deflectors with adjustable Freedom Wings that I could eliminate the buffeting by opening or closing a Wing and catching some wind to direct it back behind the fairing. I found it interesting that Harley changed their design of the fairing deflectors in '07, basically copying Freedom Wings and Kuryakin's ideas.

This!
I don't experience "buffeting" either, or at least what would I would consider a bother.
My sunglasses don't move around, and my teeth ain't rattling like some suggest.
This "buffeting" thing is just like seats and shocks.
What works great for one person is a piece of crap for someone else.

You're not missing anything. It's a matter of expectations. Some people think that they will have a bubble of still air to ride in behind the fairing. (If you look at the threads, it's mostly a complaint of batwing riders.)
I understand your frustration. The incessant "buffeting" threads and the persistent "wobble" threads can get irritating.

I'm with ya I don't get it either. Some ppl want it as quiet and as little wind like when they ride in their car. Never had any buffeting issues.
