Default Tail Pipe question

ok, I am still working on my bike tune. just doesn't run like it should. I have 95 inch weisco 10.5-1 pistons. ported heads with 1.9 intakevalces and 3 angle valve job.Kuryakyn tc2 cams. mikuni carb, and crane ignition on my 02 FLHT. I have the Bassani head pipes with screamin eagle tail pipes. I took my bike to a shop for dyno tune cuz I get waxed by my buddy with an 80 inch night train and a thunder header. he has no engine wok done just a carb kit.

Question is I have been told that my exhaust might be the weak link. if they tell me there is too much back pressure in the tails I run what do you all recommend? Does thunder header make a tail. keep in mind I really like the dual pipes and am trying to avoid 2 into 1. If anyone has dyno results from a similar package to mine that would be great.

First, duals have much less back pressure than any other system not more( unless you put more restrictive mufflers on, like stock) You could add your stock muffs and see if it boosts your low end, but most times people build motors and go for maximum horsepower measured at about 5k rpm, by the time your bike gets to its power band, I could dust your *** with any bike with strong low and mid range, just like your buddy does. Id say poor choice of cams is your biggest power robber Along with poor exhaust (performance wise) a two into one has been proven for years to be the best performance system there is. Cams should come on around 1500 rpm and pull to 5500 rpm, a combo like this will make maximum useable horsepower.

I should have mentioned my top end is whats suffering. it pulls good or what feels seat of the pants good from 2000 to about 4000 then falls on its face.

Running out of power, few things, not enough fuel(main jet) or again cams or could be timing too, would be my guess.

Ok it was the mufflers! It runs like a raped ape now. holy crap what a difference! Roll on tire haze in first. pulls through 6700. those cams are plenty.
