Default Gerbing Heated Gear & Battery

Just invested in some Gerbing gear and undecided how I am going to attach to the battery. I got the SAE/Female Coax Adapter (98544-04V) to attach directing the battery tender pigtail (FLHX 2012) so I would not have to attach/use the battery harness that comes with the gear. Thinking this would allow for a quicker more convenient hook up.

Problem is with the cord that comes out at the bottom of my jacket leaves me 12-18"" short from the battery tender pigtail.

Suggestions??

Thanks in advance

Did you buy a regulator for the jacket, gloves? If not, you're going to wish you did. With the regulator attached, my cord is more than long enough.

I bought their jack mount and put it in the lower heat deflector and then use a coiled cord with a 90 end. works nice, mike

@DocO - no I didn't wasn't sure as people seem to be split on needing them. Can you answer this?? Where do you put the regulator/thermostat ?? Might be a dumb question but I have looked every on line. In your coat pocket? I wouldn't think I want it just hanging there. Not sure but I thought the same thing if I attached a thermostat it would reach.

@rmc115 I saw the jack mount. So did you use the battery adapter included and run it to the heat deflector?

Thanks guys

As for the thermostat, get the little case for it, that has a belt clip on the back, clip it anywhere...works for me.
Have been using Gerbings for years...love it. I now have the Union Ridge suit...

don't use the tender pigtaill,it will not handle the amps that the heated gear can draw.

I did the same thing to my left side heat deflector. I lost the plastic 'plug' - it broke off from use. I called Gerbing and they sent me a cap type closure that closes over the jack mount similar to the intercom setup on my Limited. I chose the left side as it is not as noticeable when the bike is leaning when on the jiffy stand.
I also have the 90deg coiled extension cable. This gives you some additional length that allows a dismount while still connected to the power jack.

Definitely get the dual controller if using the jacket liner and gloves. I have the controller pouch and I run the wires through the 'flap' on the front of my jacket that covers the zipper. It then hangs in front of me about halfway down for convenient access. I used the battery hookup that came with the power jack kit. When drilling the heat deflector triple check the spot you want to drill and then put some masking tape over he spot- I double layered it. Use a new drill bit! This will ensure a nice clean hole.

this should be in caps - as said - DO NOT USE THE BATTERY TENDER HARNESS! The instructions (if you read them) that came with your Gerbing gear will tell you this, a full set of heated gear can draw something like 21amps whereas the BT is only a couple. If you use the BT harness you risk a fire, at the very least you'll melt something. If you need/want to connect the BT, get the Gerbing to SAE adapter to connect the Gerbing battery harness to your tender - not the other way around.

You can buy any adapter cord you need here http://www.aerostich.com/clothing/he...ds-accessories

Use the harness that came with your kit and wire it right to the battery to avoid any problems....like others have said, don't use the tender connection.

You WILL need a thermostat. Without one, you have no way to regulate the heat, and if it works like my liner, you will cook yourself on high after it warms up. I hid my thermostat in the fairing and used a dash panel controller so I don't have wires all over the place. http://www.warmnsafe.com/single-mounted-heat-troller/
