Not an indepth technical thread at all, but as far as the Vied install, it was a simple snap in and screw down procedure. BIG BIG thanks again to bg1 for the parts! can't thank him enough!!
all i have on the Ultra Classic is a set of gutted Road Glide pipes (slightly larger than stock and gutted), set the dial to 50% and we'll see how it goes....
i usually ride to work the same route.... one hill always produced a ping in 6th gear at 60mph (obviously cause it is under a load and uphill), tried mid grade fuel, and high grade, still ping... even had a slight ping with factory plugged up pipes. read where the 103 ping was pretty common.
today on the same route, at 60mph there was no ping. i even turned the radio down to see if i heard it. no ping. can't really say if there was more throttle response, it livened up a good bit with a more open exhaust anyway.
so as far as the results... seems decent to me, and when i called the dealer this afternoon, talked to the service manager (who was originaly the salesman who sold me the bike), he said i was good to go as long as no wires were cut or spliced to add the component. if it's "plug n play" or "bolt on" the warranty remains in tact! awesome dealer!!
I have them on my 2009 with slip ons....My question has always been How do I know they are working ? If you think or know you can't hear ping then I guess that is something...I really never had ping just wanted to see if run better and cooler? But I don't know if I have that. keep us posted !
Hap
I have them on my King. They were easy to install and work as described. Very pleased. And after 6k miles, my plugs looked exaclty like they should, telling me that bike is getting the optimal fuel/air mixture.
