thats a really small picture but that looks to be your accessory hot, and ground. if you got the daymaker headlights, you would use the hot wire to illuminate the cool little bar and shield in the headlights when you have your ignition switch turned to acc.
on my old bike, i used them to power an amp.
as far as headlights go, there are a myriad of choices available. what you should get depends on the amount of money you want to spend. i would recommend against going for the higher wattage bulbs though. they have a tendency to overheat the wiring and melt stuff. in the past, i used the sylvania silverstar, and ended up going to the el cheapo phillips bulbs. they just didn't last. i would get about 7-8 months out of them. the phillips i got a couple of years. piaa are a good choice too. but pricey.
I have run higher wattage bulbs and though they are hotter my wiring has shown no ill effects. The original 100W90 "Super Whites" were outstanding (I ride to work at 5:00 a.m. from out in the woods...) and they lasted almost 4 years.
I found these (in the link,) and they're on the way. Bulbs and extension wiring complete and will report back here next week. I couldn't find the ones I'd bought 4 years ago. These have a slightly different shape. ( They'll either be great or they won't!)
