Saddlebag latch problem
I had the same problem with the latch becoming unattached from the lid. It happened when I was going home from work. Fortunately, I had some electrical tape in the saddlebags and was able to secure the lid with electrical tape and not leave residue on the bags. I used a fastener from the other saddlebag and went to Ace Hardware to find replacements. The fasteners to attach the latch to the lid are #6-32 x 1/4 and to attach the lid to the saddlebag (and cloth tether) are #-8-32 x 5/8. Instead of using the Torx screws, I was able to find allen screws. This made the change out much easier and I prefer allen head instead of torx head. I decided to try a slightly longer fastener and used a flat washer and a lock washer. I also used blue locktite. The original fasteners that attached the latch to the lid only had about 1-1/2 thread engagement and the red painted locktite was useless; because it never engaged. Way too many parts for these saddlebags - the Heritage bags are so simple and I never had problems with them. There is a recall for 2014 touring models for a saddlebag issue. Hope this helps.
