As of this afternoon, my FLTR is still showing a 3/21 ship date and a status of 2G.
However.... my dealer was notified today that Harley has canceled the 19 Heritage Softails they had scheduled between now and the end of the model year.
The strike started on 2/1/07 unofficially. My bike was due 2/9/07'. So I figured to get it 8 days after they came back to work, so I figured 3/3/07'. However, I got the call the morning they came back to work............ 3/26/07'.
Makes no sense? But it's cold and crappy out anyways.
I had ordered black pearl Streetglide in late October for a spring delivery. The strike was a gift for me because I perused a couple of dealers showrooms and really started to like Deep Cobalt Blue. I called my dealer to check on the possibility of a color change and he said that it was possible but might push the bike delivery back a little more. He had a Cobalt Blue in stock with a January build date and he told me that I could have that one and he would let the order stand for the black pearl bike, thus saving him putting in a change order and slowing down the order more than it had been already. I now have to wait for the snow to disappear so that I can get it home. If the strike had gone on two more weeks I was ready to pull the plug on the order and wait for an 08 or look for a good used scoot. I have always purchased new bikes and then kept them in perfect condition. I realized that I was being stupid and not enjoying the bike for its intended purpose. In the mid 90's I literally made money buying the bikes and selling them a year later with 3000 miles on them. I never failed to make a profit. I knew the day would come where there were more bikes than buyers and I thinks that time is upon us. Oh well, maybe I can try to wear this one out.Good luck to those of you who are waiting.
My dealer tells me my new 07 Electra Glaide Classic will be delayed 3-4 weeks due to the strike. Originally scheduled for an April 07 delivery, looks like May 07 now.
Oh well, here in Canada we seemed to have got a late winter so may be until then for warm weather.
Mine was suppose to go to the shipping department 3/9/07.My salesman called me this morning and said it was on a truck headed this way and will be here next week
