I thought it would be good to start a thread so that all those "old school" riders would have a place to spout off about the evils of new technology. Do you think ABS makes you too complacent? Don't trust FBW? This thread's for you.
Since I've never ridden a bike with ABS I don't really know but I will say that I'm not very trusting of it.If I were to buy a new bike I think I'd get one without it.Go with what you know.

I rode non-ABS for years and when I bought my Limited on 2010 with ABS I thought it is not going to be that big of a deal. On trip I needed to lock them up, and man what a difference. ABS is good. enough said, they work..
ABS prevents locking which means it will save you from going down. But I think I can old school threshold brake to a shorter stop than ABS can.
I agree with what you are saying here for a lot of situations you might find yourself in. BUTT with the enormous and ever-growing number of FKN idiots on our highways I think ABS on a motorcycle is a great idea. I have ridden a 2014 and think the dual brake from the hand lever is excellent. In a panic brake scenario ABS allows you to free up your thinking process and use it to decide on evasive maneuvers that might help save your a$$. Just need to get the trouble shooting part of it out of the dealer.
Hope I spelled everything wright. My english teacher might be reading this.
I've been riding for 30 years, this is my second bike with EFI and TBW. So far so good, but the first time my bike goes into "limp mode" I'm gonna sell it and get a bike with a carb and cable throttle. As far as ABS, never had it, never missed it. My new Brembo brakes are much better than any of my old Harleys, stop on a dime.
