Default Which should I use?

Listen guys, I know this subject has literally been beaten to death, and I have read all of the threads, but I still have to ask your opinions. I have a 04 Road King with Rinehart Dual exhaust, HD Stage 1 Air Cleaner and the ECM download. That is it. Nothing else planned at this point. Which should I use the PCIII or the SERT? Any advice or opinions will be appreciated.

I have the same bike with simular mods. I went with the PC111. No regrets. You never know what you will change next.

In a mood today? You should go ride around the block and try loggin in again. Maybe while riding your bike will tune itself too with a couple loops.

The reason that I posted this question is that almost all of the threads about PCIII vs. SERT were concerning 07 models. I was just curious if anyone had any PCIII problems that had a2004 with a similar setup as mine. Sorry Bounty.

And now for a helpful post.....

If you are having someone dyno tune your bike, ask them which they prefer to work with. There are pros and cons for both units.

Good luck,
RJ

Mine's an '04! Have the PCIIIusb and think it is THE choice between the two.....price and flexibility....unbeatable. Have Jamie at Fuelmoto preprogram before he sends it to you.....great price, service and it's a peice of cake to install.

One thought as a reminder, if you have an extended warranty the SERT will void the warranty. If you break down on the raod and do not have time to "undo" the SERT, dealer will have your bike and no way to argue the issue with them....IMO

To clarify the warranty issue of using the SERT; the '07 SERT User's Manual says: "Use of this Screamin' Eagle EFI Tuner system may reduce or void the LImited Warranty Coverage." (emphasis added).

It does not say "will reduce or void." Personally, I don't have a problem with the MOCO's position. If the bike is improperly tuned, and it can be with a SERT (or any other fuel/ignition mangament product), resulting in an excessively lean condition leading to burned pistons, valves, etc., it would be unreasonable (IMHO)to expect the MOCO to repair a problem caused by the misuse of their product.

I have a SERT and find it a useful tool for tuning my bike. Of course, it does help to read the user's manual and have some rudimentary understanding of a/f ratios andignition timing. And it is pretty cool to do a data run, examine the hp and torque data, and make adjustments based on real conditions. Of course, those numbers are not what I would post for comparison purposes to other bikes, but they are helpful when comparing them to previous hp and torque numbers as the tuning process continues.

And since a buddy and I just bought a Twin Scan II+ to provide a/f numbers, the tuning will be better and more accurate.
