So since I picked up my first "real" bike about 4 weeks ago I have been slowly making it mine with some personal touches.. I put a 7" LRS windshield, Kuryakyn highway pegs, SE slip ons, New grips, picked up a street glide seat for when I get around to putting on the quick detach kit on the tourpack... So I didn't have to mess with relocating the antenna every time I switch it around I decided to go with the Harley under the faring antenna.. .
When I went to take the faring apart I was very surprised as to what I found... There has been some very happy mice in there... Luckily they only chewed on 2 wires and didn't go through them.. I was able to fix the two wires and get the antenna kit installed...
It's all good now the old tenants have since been evicted
Real lucky that the guests did not destroy your wiring! I am assuming that it was the previous owner that let it sit that long but there is a trick for people who have trouble with mice. I put dryer sheets in my tractor to prevent them pesky rodents from nesting. Sounds stupid but it works.
Congrats on the new to you bike....
I went with the Boom Audio 76000266... For 98' and Later touring models.. Takes care of AM/FM and WB... It doesn't take care of the CB though.. (no plans of using that)..So far I think it is allot better than the stock antenna... Only time will tell though.. I think they do have a kit that also plugs in to the CB, just didn't have it when I went in to pick mine up... Cost of the kit was $60

I put that same antenna on my Street Glide last weekend. I works every bit as good as the whip did. The only issue I have with it is when I push in the USB plug into the power outlet to charge my phone I loose FM signal. I just pull it out a little when I'm using the radio. I can live with it I guess.
