Loud pipes just **** people off. Some chick on a Streetglide in SF the other day felt she needed to crack the throttle because she was pissed she had to go around a tourist bus. Rolled by at like 5mph, revving her engine and making a bunch of noise to make a point. Meanwhile 100-200 people on the street are thinking, look at that a-hole on a Harley. Including me.
I like Thunderheaders, Boarzillas and such. Just not the way people use them. It makes it worse for everyone. Pretty soon we won't be able to have anything other than stock pipes (already law in some Bay Area localities, but not regularly enforced).
Yes, loud pipes get you noticed, but in most ways in a negative way. Any idea why we can't ride motorcycles on 17-mile drive in Carmel, CA? Yeah, bunch of loud *** bikes ruined it and pissed off the locals. Ride smart and a silent bike is your friend.
Yup, I don't buy it either. I guess loud pipes are fine for weekend warriors. When you are a full time biker who doesn't own a car, riding day in and day out, rain or shine, loud pipes are only good for one thing... giving you a headache.
As for performance, If I wanted to go fast, I would have bought a fast bike, under any circumstances, that isn't a Harley Touring model.
What a bunch of babies. The car alarms go off by themselves...
Please, what a bunch of dumb replies. I am telling what I experienced and you guys just bash.
Get a life...
HAH, I love it when some moron comes on here, starts a moronic thread, and then gets PO'd when people don't respond the way he expected. The replies weren't dumb my Friend. Your reaction to them was.
What you experienced has all been heard and disputed before on the forum. The general consensus is... well, you already know. So, thanks for being one of those butt wads who thinks he's protecting himself, but in reality, is deluding himself, and actually helping to ruin it for the rest of us.
