I use OEM but the fronts sqeak/squeal for a few miles after installation. BOTH sets of brakes should be used when riding, except maybe only rears at very low speed. Not using both front and rears together is just silly but it's your life.

Default I get about 12k

i just replaced both both front and back with my 2016 fatboy s
i believe the reason I chewed through them was due to riding two up a lot and riding in groups. I find that if I have to follow other riders in a group I am constantly haveing to use the brakes so as not to run into individuals.

that and extra weight, caused the reasoning for my repair.
i replaced two tires and all brakes at once (12k) I suspect I will have to do the same at 20k in two months.
Its not that a person rides, it's that a person rides a lot.

I disagree with your last statement. changing pads every 12,000 miles is not riding a lot. it's stopping a lot. I've got 30,000 on mine right now and have an extra set on hand, but they do not need changed yet.

it seems to be the average if I am in the city or if I am running a long haul.
and I say that it seems to be the average between all the bikes I have had in the last three years. I bought my fatboy in August 2016. And by December I was ready for new tires and brakes. I pushed it till today actually. And what I noticed ( again personal observation) is that riding two up and in groups I tend to be using the brakes more.
my metrics gave me the same result and from discussing this issue with other riders in my group they have had he same results.
except those that ride up to Alaska and back they tend to get more out of their tires. So I am gonna stick with my first observation is that the amount and conditions of riding are the cause for replacement parts quicker then expected.

Wow..... That's all I can say after reading some comments on the rear brake.

Over the weekend, I changed my front brakes. I'm still using the OEM brand.
I've never noticed any squeaking as some reported.

And, how can you even hear squeaking brakes on a loud motorcycle? Someone must have bionic hearing.

Oh, I've heard some brakes on motorcycles squeak! My OLs Road King has OEM brakes and they just started squeaking the other day. I was able to hear them from MY bike.

Wait until you get a set that squeals. You can certainly hear it and it is highly annoying.

Then I consider myself lucky. I've had several bikes and never heard the brakes squeaking.

Now, I do hear the bike rattling.

I put on a new rear set of Lyndall Z+ Pads the other day and if the damn squeaking doesn't stop soon I'll swap them for OEM.
