Default Screaming Eagle or Hayden

Ok, going to change my stock automatic chain adjuster. I'm debating between going Screaming Eagle manual adjust or the Hayden. While the Hayden would be more convenient as I wouldn't have to pull the primary cover so often to adjust it, I never had any issues with any previous bikes with manual adjusters. The issue that has me leaning Screaming Eagle is the trouble many are having with the Hayden being too tight and only giving them 1/4 worth of play. Thoughts? What you running?

Get the Baker, problem between the two is solved!
A price-ier unit, but you probably get what you pay for.

I'm runnin' stock.
My chain is not too tight.

I've read all of the tensioner threads and come to the conclusion that simpler is better. Baker is simpler and it is a manual adjust unit so you do have some maintenance. I figure once a season its good to take a look in the primary anyway.

I'm pondering this too. I've had the Hayden on my Dyna for years and it has been great, but I have also read a lot about recent issues with the allowable play. Now I am looking at my options for the Limied.

I hope Hayden is noticing all this . . .

Exploring my options too. Im going to do the SE Compensator, tensioner (not sure which one yet) and clutch later this winter. Been reading all the threads and manual tensioner seems to be the way to go currently.

I put the Hayden in my 08 RoadGlide about a month ago. I have about 900 miles on the Hayden now. It was too tight when I installed it. I checked it last weekend with 900 miles and its still way too tight and the shoe is warring some deep grooves. I will be taking it out!

If you get the proper clearance of 3/8 it seems to be fine but, if you get less than 1/4 which is what mine has it is too tight. I don't understand why some bikes get the 3/8 and others don't but I do know that 1/4 is too tight. The Hayden was a waste of time and money for me. Hopefully I have not hurt anything yet.

Baker is next on the list for me.

BTW: I have over 40K miles on the bike and primary.

I'm seeing more Hayden issues lately on the forum. Just seem like they got something not quite right with material or tension mechanism or both.

Default Hayden Seems OK

Debated among the SE, Baker, and Hayden; went with the Hayden a month ago. Spacing was good.
Checked it after 500 miles, everything seemed OK.
Just finished 2000 mile trip, worked great. Will be pulling cover again in a week or so to check again. The initial noise has quieted down to the normal OEM level--barely noticeable.
Will report back after next check...

Why Baker manual over Screaming Eagle manual? If I'm not mistaken the Baker requires removing the Comp to install as well? I guess that would be fine if you also had to replace the comp.

Not sure about initial install but not that big of a deal if you do. Good chance to take a look at everything.
