Got my Road King for two reasons one the classic style, two did not want stereo

Very happy with my choice

The SG is an awesome bike but I just prefer the RK

I was in the same boat when I bought my '12 RK. I still wonder if I should have bought a SG. I just bought an aftermarket fairing with a 5'' shield and i'm loving it...I get better wind protection and I see over the shield like i'm riding without one...it will probably stay on most of the time.

Have YOU rode them both? SG lower + better for folks with shorter legs. Myself, I ride 2 up mostly so the RK w/detachable tourpak is a much more comfrtable 2-up package. If I rode alone, I may have gone with the RG (not an option this year) or SG in your case.

Rent both for a weekend, then you make your decision.
Doesn't matter what any one says for or against.
It's your $$$$$$$$$ and your decision.

If you want plastic bags anyway then get a Vivid Black King standard and drop 2k on a nice prepainted removable fairing with a stereo in it. Best of both worlds.

I like the looks of the SG, but the price difference in Canada was 3,500 and I just couldn't shake that much coin out of my piggy bank. So got the king and am very happy with it.

I went from a 2011 Ultra Classic to a 2014 RK. I have always loved the look of the RK, and always wanted to own one. Since I mostly ride solo now, I felt I could do without the the tour pac. I used the radio sometimes on the Ultra, but also felt I could take it or leave it. Very happy so far, and especially like the handling, and lighter front end feel of the RK over the Ultra. Not as good on the wind protection, but it is adequate for me.

Previously owned '06 Road King Classic, absolutely loved it so much until my lady and I started traveling extensively and ended up purchasing '09 Ultra Classic. Was going to buy Street Glide before the Ultra, but the problem was I had to buy Tour Pak and all the goodies which would cost more than the Ultra.

Suggest you take 2 or 3 bikes of your choice out for test drive and see what bike youlike and will end up with. Different Strokes for Different Folks, Ya know.
