How does everyone on here go about hooking up new electrical devices? I dont like the thought of having a bunch of connectors on my battery terminals. I was thinking about installing a small fused buss panel to hook up new items like new amp for my stereo and light in my tour pak, etc, etc.
Typically HD batteries have both top and side terminals which makes plenty of room for electrical add ons. I use the side for the main bike wires and the top for the LED lighting system, chargers etc. Been doing this concept for years with no issues, just presenting another point of view.
Here's an alternative I've used to add Wards Parts Werks FCS fans to a buddy's '13 FLHTK. It's an add a circuit. You simply pull a fuse from the fuse panel, plug that existing fuse into the first fuse spot on the add a circuit, add the appropriate size fuse for the new circuit into the second fuse spot, attach the device's power wire to the add a fuse pigtail and then plug the add a fuse into the fuse panel. Makes a clean worry free connection that, in this case, only is active when the ignition is on.
From the factory there are 2 different methods for adding accessories.
Both are located in front of the battery and under the rear of the gas tank.
1. The accessory plug this is switched by the accessory switch on your faring cap. It also has a brake light feed. Connectors are available here. http://www.deutschconnector.com/prod...onnectors.html
2. The B+ connector the B+ connector is HOT at all times and is a heavy gage wire.
