What to do HELP
Hey guys I have three dealers telling me different things, I want to have a stage 1 upgrade done with true duels. Two dealers tells me I need a race tuner and the otherone told me unless I was going to do some magor motor mods that Harley had a download for what I wanted and I didn't need a race tuner that the map would be just fine.
wait till someone tells you to get a PCIII,,,, and then someone steps in and says go for the thundermax w/autotune...... then theres the DFO which is quick and EZ,,or a fuel pak!
It's driving me nuts, I can tell you that!

maybe the download will work, and maybe it won't or just be close. if you change things in the future (and we all will) you will probably have to do another download (more $ to the dealer). I'd go with a SERT and you can change the setting whenever you like. The only sure way to truly get it right is with a race tuner and a dyno.

I bought my 06 ultra last May, and I wanted to leave it Stock. I quickly learned that these bikes, with their limited fuel management systems, leaves a lot to be desired. all of them will run hot, sputter or whatever. After reading and listening to a lot of complaints, all people, including me as of yesterday, buy some type of fuel management system to readjust the fuel delivery rate and time. Some systems offer auto tune based on some prerecorded program, I would rather believe in something like a SERT and a dino hooked up together so you can see what your engine needs and how it reacts when you change it in a real time environment. also I have discovered that most dealer mechanics that don,t use a sert, don,t understand the system. too many adjustments parameters that needs set. IMO Dan
Download is very generic. It will work but is it the best you can do? The SERT will not cost much more than the download inittially, except for the dyno and that is money well spent imo.The SERT can tune (with a proper tuner) your ride for the precise upgrades you buy, ie: pipes, AC, whatever. I guarantee you wil change SOMETHING in the future and the SERT will grow with your mods. I have the Stage 1 AC, Rinehart True Duals and a SERT, properly tuned and my ride is like a scalded dog. You by it once, you will not regret it. Make sure you have someone close by with a dyno who is familiar with the SERT and you will be amazed.

AHD download is still an EPA compliant map and is geared to SE components. It will still run lean and place the current system to the edge of it's capabilities even with the O2 sensors. This is not good.Do your bike and yourself a favor and do it right.
I'm partial to SERT. The big problem is getting a good SERT tuner. Just having a dyno does not makea dealer a recommended tuning center. At worst, have your dealer or yourselfput in a base line map...max out your O2 bias tables and then search out a tuner with a good reputation for the fine tuning.
Bigdaddy is right on.
