I was supposed to pick up my bike tomorrow. The dealer called and said not to come that they cannot sell any on the recall list and no test rides. He also told me that he did not know the priority of who gets the kit first. I haven't signed any papers so if they want me to buy one the better fix the one I ordered. If I had one already I would be bitching they better fix mine first I paid a lot of money. They are in a bad position.
As opposed to all the other guys out there that got their bikes for free?
Just talked to my rep at Barnett here in El Paso, TX, he said it is an inspection to make sure it isn't defective. Repair, if needed, is an hour. But they still don't have parts and aren't expected till next week.
i would be highly surprised if anyone dies because their clutch did not disengage...or their TBW broke...or their rear brake cylinder needs recall. about as likely as someone dying from pulling all the fuses to their lights, turn signals, radio, etc. and trying to limp home as the battery slowly runs out of juice from a faulty regulator-and getting hit by a car that did not see them. clutch cables have been breaking for many years and now the hydraulic clutches are malfunctioning. you should be able to get thru the gears without a clutch and limp home/dealer.
the moco jumped on this quickly and made it voluntary before the feds could make it mandatory. good PR move on their part. due to the various miles that people put on their bikes, the moco knew the regulator problem would not show up for a good while on many bikes...fix them as they break. it took the moco many weeks to even admit that there might be a problem...and longer still to issue a recall. maybe the moco is slowly learning from past mistakes, or just getting better at covering the asses.
I need to find the list of affected s/n's, I was planning on riding all weekend and into next week. I have over 2000 miles on my new SG with no issues (or hint thereof), gonna be hard to leave it home. Called my dealer this morning first thing and it sounds like I knew more than them and that there is a process to follow, yada yada....lucky I'm open a lot of days next week after parts are due.
