Keep the 03!!! Just think in about 95 years it will be worth alot of money.lol. No, really, I have an 03 flht and have put in a little over 5g's, couldn't be happier. And I still want to add more. I went in to the dealer one day just to see what they would give me. The sales man said, "whateveryou add to the bike it's still a flht". So no matter if you add a radio, tour pak, the trade-in price is still for a flht. The choice is really yours. Its your money. If you really want a new bike. Go for it. Good luck.
One thing you need to keep in mind......if you sell your 03 and take that money and use it
to purchase a new bike.....you'll be paying tax on the full amount of new bike. If you trade,
then you'll being paying tax on the difference. So you need to do the math to figure which
would benefit you the best. But like most have said, stealers will try and give you dirt for a trade.
Its like dealing with car dealers. If you have done any mods or updates then that could be a plus.
I've always thought abt taking anything that I have put on a bike... off...and return it to stock.
Then I could see what I might be able to use on the new....or just sell outright. Like someone said earlier.....its an FLHT and thats what they deal with based on blue book.....normally they don't
give you...say $1000 more for that true duals and exhaust.....so take them off. Just my 2 cents.
LAS VEGAS dealer offered me $12500 for my 05 Ultra on th etradin in for a new 07 Ultra. I politely said NO! That rip off plus $1000 dealer prep and $500 doc fee made it easy to look for a used one on the forum/local papers.
As crazy as this sounds - its done all the time - why do you think HD makes so much $$$$ - To a lot of riders $$$$ is not the issue - got to have the newest bike.... It makes the world go round - and ya know what - its their money and their business - Dealers never give any $$ ona trade and never will - my history has told me .25 back on every Dollar spent on after market on the resale - if your lucky - Thats why my EG got turned into a RG (me doing all the work and using the internet dealers 20% off)
