Transmission Shaft shift lever Replacement Cost
Any idea on the average cost to replace the shift lever that goes on the transmission shaft? My 03 EGC's is loose and tightened down as much as possible without breaking the bolt. There doesn't appear to be room between the clutch housing to R and R without pulling the clutch casing off. Curious as to how much this weak point by design is going to cost.

Some shafts have a nut on the side of the shaft that faces the motor. If yours does, take the nut off and slide the shaft out . When my lever loosened up, I was able to get a new bolt, then I put some blue loc tite on the shaft splines. It hasn't loosened up of fallen off since.,

There is a two piece replacement lever that I've seen on a website. They cut the old one off with a die grinder and then install the replacement. Try a google search and see, it looked like a good option and would save on shop labor costs.

Thanks, did not see the link you may have been referring to. Did see the Better Lever site and that is a little pricy at this stage.

You didnt say what year bike you have. I took my shaft off and put a hex bolt on it allowing enough torque to actually clamp the shaft, the allen head stock bolt does not allow sufficient torque to clamp the shaft.
