Hi all,
The cruise control on my 2004 Ultra stopped engaging. I pulled the codes and 242 shows up as the last 3 attempts. I know this code is for high rate of engine change (e.g., hit ice or slipping tire). However when I was attempting to engage the cruise control, I didn't hit ice, sand or slip the tire. I was just going along nicely at about 70 mph.
I checked the fuse and sprayed some wd-40 at the switch. Still won't engage. Any ideas?
Can't help with your problem, but WD40 is NOT an electrical cleaner, it will eventually make almost any switch fail. It leaves behind an unbelievably sticky coating which holds any dirt that gets near it. That coating may do exactly what it was designed to do, disperse water, but it won't help electrical switches.
