Default 2014 FLHTK Labor Question

My local dealer had a parts and accessories sale, I purchased most of the upgrades I wanted to make my bike my own. Now trying to figure out what the labor should be to have installed. Below you will see my time estimates; those with experience, I would greatly appreciate your input as to my estimate's accuracy. These estimates were not supplied by the dealer.

1. Install new SE Cannon slip-on mufflers, Install SE Ventilator Air Cleaner and provide Stage one flash update as required with the addition of these upgrades...............3 hours

2. Install new sweepback rider and passenger floorboards, foot controls, highway peg extenders with pegs and a new gear shift linkage........................................... ........1.5 hours

3. Install XM module and Garage door opener............................................ ............2 hours

4. Install new windshield trim piece, replace tour pack rack with new air wing tour-pak rack and install tour pak organizer......................................... ..........................................1 hour

Overall I am estimating between 7.5 and 10 hours to make all the updates. Does that look about right?

Thank you

Agree, you can't do the flash yourself, you need the software.

Paying to install slipons on ? Its 6 bolts total ! Fairing trim ? wow !

Dealer is gonna rape you .

My dealer has treated me pretty darn well in the past, have been loyal to them for over 25 years. I simply wanted to estimate the time these updated would take realizing that some of the work is easy and I could certainly save myself some of the cost by doing some of the work myself. I don't have a problem with the tech and store making a few bucks off me, as I said, they have treated me fair. Example: they did not charge me at all for my 1,000 mile service as a way of saying they were sorry my bike had a coolant leak; that they did fix. I did not ask for the free service, they just offered.

I do appreciate you thinking about me and what this will cost, just want to see if my estimates look about right? thanks again

as mentioned, none of those accessories would be hard for you to add yourself and you could save some money…. but…

The labor charges, while the dealer isn't doing you any favors, they don't look to be excessive in my opinion.

There is one additional caveat... if an accessory is purchased from a dealer, installed by the dealer, and within 30 days of delivery … it is then covered under the factory 2-year warranty.

That doesn't mean much with trim pieces unless chrome goes bad, but might be good for the XM module.

I picked up my 2012 with several accessories installed by the dealer. they were included in the 2-year warranty to include my 255cams and LED turn signals. I've had one of the LED signals lose a few of the LEDs and it was promptly replaced under warranty.

You are a dealer's wet dream. No, it doesn't seem unreasonable - but the only piece you should have to pay labor on is the flash update, everything else is very simple to do.

About $1000 in labor........

I would think what else I could buy with that thousand bucks.

But that's just me.

Enjoy the ride!
