Can anyone absolutely confirm if HD is using roller Steering Stem/Neck Bearings? The Part Smart shows them as (Temkin like) Taper type and not ball bearings.
I just got this from another site about the 2014 touring bikes
There is no longer a grease fitting on the steering head for the bearings. Instead, you must DISSASSEMBLE the steering head to lubricate the bearings at 25000 mi intervals. Really?

To me this is a big mistake on the 2014's. ( can I say that and not be labeled a hater or troll? ). 25000 miles isnt much mileage. Dealers are going to be smiling with this one. How much labor are they going to charge for this?

Wonder how long it will be before someone drills and tapes the steering head for a zerk fitting?
I had the infamous 'clunk' on my bike. Took it to the dealer (warranty) and they had it back to me in an hour. Three years later the clunk returned. By this time I no longer trusted the dealer so I took it to a local indy. He called me the next day and said that whoever had tightened the front end had torqued it down as far as it would go. He needed a piece of pipe over the breaker bar to get the steering head nut off. When he showed me the old bearings, there most definitely were flat spots on them.
So $39 for bearings and $75 for labor later I was back on the road.
i've seen neck bearings flat spotted before after many miles, 25000 isn't alot of miles. i really don't think ball bearings are meant to be side loaded.
