It's not going to be a world of difference but the power duals with 4" Rineharts would be a big difference between his current set up with stock pipe and 3.5" Rineharts. I think the combination of parts really define the sound.
My bad ... typin' faster than I'm thinkin' :>)

Change your baffles. Rinehart makes a 2 1/2" baffle.

I had the decatted head pipe on my 2012 SG with Jackpot Pro Touring slip-ons. Can't imagine wanting louder than that. And they were more quiet than my 4" Rineharts. But to address the original question you may get a little deeper and louder sound with a true dual set-up over a 2-1-2. But most people say it is at the expense of losing a little low end torque.

You will lose some low end tork with true duals.. Think about the V & H's power chamber head pipes

I went from Decatted head pipe to VH Power Duals. Same slipons. I don't notice a difference. Maybe if it was dyno'd side by side. Save your money.

A True Dual wil most definitely give you a louder and deeper tone. 2-1-2 will be somewhat different but not by much. And the loss in low end torque won't be felt by the butt dyno.
