Mine takes way more pressure/ travel to turn off cruise than my 12, i believe they changed how it activates. I looked for the rear brake switch and its not there like the recalled 12 switch. possibly moved into a brake function thru can buss and maybe normal. i started rolling the throttle off instead of tapping the brake. I an roll the throttle backwards and it does it right away but on my 06 Street Glide and my 10 Road Glide I could barley tap the front the brakes and it would dis-engauge right away. This is on a 2014 Street Glide standard. Has anybody else experianced this? Its really not a big deal for me now because I know what to do but this could be a safety issue to a less experianced rider.
Front brake, rear brake, clutch and rolling throttle forward is supposed to kick out the cruise, sounds like a trip to the dealer is in order...

The rear brake light switch was moved forward and is now located by the rear brake master cylinder. I guess the moved it because of the heat that caused them to fail in other years. The front brake lever requires more movement to activate the brake light on my '14 FLHTK than what was needed on my '09 FLHTCU. My tech said the switch assembly is new for the '14 models.

I believe this may be the issue (Canbus). There's a ton of checks done by the BCM when power is turned on. Many opportunities for erroneous info to be input to the BCM.

Question: do you normally hold the front brake lever engaged when you turn the ignition on/start the engine? How did the dealer check this for function? (did they hold the front brake lever engaged during ignition on/engine start sequence?)

Ive put 1,200 miles on my SGS with no issues with my cruise disengaging. I can't honestly tell you if i pull the handle any harder then my previous glide or not.

I went to the shop today and on the way checked my front brake and mine didn't disengage the cruise either. I asked them about it and they checked it out. They showed me how you have to really apply a lot of front brake to get the brake lights to come on, when I left and set the cruise, I hit the front brake hard and it did disengage.

I have a 14 SG. Disengaging cruise takes a pretty good front brake-lever pull. I had an 04, and it required only light front-brake lever pressure. But the '14 always disengages, given enough force on the front lever.

yes that is how mine is also the only problem is on a light braking the brake light is not coming on either.
shouldn't have to apply that much pressure to get a brake light.

Don't have a Street Glide but tested on my '14 Road King this morning

Cruise set at 75

- front brake press - cruise disengaged, brake light came on as I was watching in the rear view the grill on the pick up behind me to glow red

- rear brake - normal pressure same thing! Disengagement and brake lights on

- front and rear brakes - ditto

- reverse throttle - disengagement of cruise no brake light ( as expected)
