on the 2014 touring bikes.
I know its no real technical challenge to remove the left side cover to get to the charging cable connection but has anyone re routed the cable to be more user friendly like previous year models?
I ended up just installing my B/T cable that I removed from my old bike and routed it to a better location. I considered trying to re-route the one under the left side cover but I wasn't too fond of it possibly dropping down in the gap at the back end of the primary / belt area. So, I now have 2 but the factory one is stowed and not used.
Go from the battery cable side down thru a round hole in the frame above the trans zip tie to the frame by the dipstick never have to take anything apart to use.
His bike is a 2014 and the Factory Installed Battery Charger Harness is located under the left side cover and the length is not adequate to reach over to the right side of the motorcycle. As I suggested to him, just add another harness to the battery and he can locate it to wherever suits him the best. I also have the harness that I installed routed near the dipstick area as you suggested and do not use the factory installed one. It's nice that Harley installed a harness from the factory but they could have made it more User Friendly.

You're right about the one behind the cover not giving much to work with. I think I'll do the same as you did and just hook a spare one up to the battery and run it down the right side where I had one on my other bike before the trade. I guess I'm just gettin lazy but I hate to pull the cover off to charge when one just above the engine oil dipstick was pretty dang convenient.
thanks all for the input....
