Thanks Bill,
I was trying to see if I could cut costs. There have been a number offairing shells for sale on ebay about $100.00 and the key is to mount my existing windshield hardware on the fairing and I thought maybe someone had done that and I wouldn't have to monkey rig a mount. It might be fun to try. Mountinga windshield might cause the biggest concern as it appears to be sandwiched in between outer and inner fairing. I only wanted the outer fairing for long road trips for additional protection. I don't want a radio. I'm just a rookie thinking out loud.
Mike
I bought a used outer shell thinking I could mount it on my '04 RK Custom. After a lot of different ideas, I could not come up with anything that did not look "rigged". Ended up with a Dragonfly and really like it. Good luck. Maybe somebody has done it and made it look good, but it is not easy to make it look "factory".
